From the booth: what's new on the website
Here's what's new on my side of the radio show. I've spent the last few days working on the website, and there's a lot to show you.
A weekly chart
The new Charts page is the EKHO Sonic Chill Top 20: the 20 most-played artists in downtempo, trip hop, dream pop and shoegaze each week. The numbers come from ListenBrainz, an open website where people share what they listen to. The chart is ranked by the numbers only, and it updates every Monday.
Music news
The new News page shows what the artists from the show are up to: new music, videos and tour dates. It gathers headlines from music sites like Pitchfork, Stereogum and The Quietus, and it updates three times a day. The latest stories are on the home page too.
Jump to any song
Every episode page now shows when each song starts. If you hear something you love, tap the song, then tap Play from, and the player goes straight to it. The song that's playing is highlighted, so you always know what you're listening to. The player also has new buttons to go to the previous or next song, go back 15 seconds, or go forward 30 seconds. Try it on EKHO Sonic Chill #8.
Share what you're hearing
Every episode, song and artist now has a share button. You can copy the link or post it directly to X.
Every genre
There's a new Genres page in the menu. Pick a sound (trip hop, downtempo, dream pop, shoegaze, nu jazz, slowcore, chillwave or post-rock) and you'll see every artist and song from the show in that style. You can also get there by clicking the genre tags on any episode page.
For radio stations
The new Press page has what a radio station or writer needs: what the show is, how to get the episodes, the logo and cover art to download, and how to reach me.
A few smaller things
There's now a link to the EKHO Sonic Chill playlist on Spotify on every page. Every page also has a link at the top, marked ESC, that takes you back one level. For example, from an episode page it takes you back to the list of all episodes. And if you use a feed reader, you can follow new episodes at ekhosonicchill.com/episodes/feed.xml.
