Nohidea. A masked, Los Angeles-based producer who came up through the online lo-fi hip-hop community and has built a big catalogue of ambient-leaning, sample-rich instrumental hip-hop, including Esuna (2017), thirteen songs released on consecutive days as a tribute to Nujabes. Textural and unhurried, with sound design doing as much work as the beat. Departures (August 2018) came out on the Los Angeles label Alpha Pup Records, and 'entheogen' on it is a collaboration with the Portland producer Yung Bae. He's also a thoughtful writer on the music: in May 2022 Atwood Magazine published his essay on how Nujabes spawned an entire generation of musicians.
