Chastity Belt formed in 2010 in Walla Walla, Washington, while all four of them, Julia Shapiro, Lydia Lund, Hunter Truscott and Gretchen Grimm, were students at Whitman College. They've been a Seattle band ever since, same lineup the whole way. "Drone" opens their second album, Time to Go Home (Hardly Art, 2015): chiming, reverb-washed guitars and wry lyrics that turn a humorous eye on feminine stereotypes. It scored 78 on Metacritic. Later albums include I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone (2017), the self-titled Chastity Belt (2019) and Live Laugh Love (2024), which Stereogum named Album of the Week. They released the singles "I Could Say Less" and "Pavement" on 10 September 2026.
